Raised by working-class parents—a schoolteacher and a letter carrier—in Watsonville, California, Matt Mahan learned early the values of hard work, education, and community. He worked on his high school's maintenance crew to help pay for tuition and went on to earn a degree from Harvard.
Matt's leadership is grounded in collaboration and accountability, with a focus on making government work better for the people it serves. That means delivering on the basics: addressing the homelessness crisis, taking a smarter approach to public safety, keeping our streets clean, and building an economy that works for everyone.
